Christmas Hackers

As Christmas and New Year vacations approach, we would like to remind all that now is exactly the time where many hackers will release exploit code knowing that little will be done in regards to patching of servers until the New Year.

In the U.S. Thanksgiving break this year, a serious vulnerability in IE 6 and 7 (more info) allowing attackers to execute code on a workstation through the user surfing to a malicious web site. In the past couple of weeks we have seen remote code execution (read: very bad) in Novel e-Directory and HP Openview. Not to mention issues with i-phones and i-phone apps- some details of which we can't release publicly just yet.

What will we see over the next few weeks while no one is watching? (Hint: contact our Security Analyst Services Team)

Looking forward to next year, we are already lining up some fascinating reading on:

  • Browser Security
  • Data Leakage Protection
  • SSL VPN’s
  • Web Application Attack Defence
  • ISP Web Filtering
  • More iPhone vulnerabilities
  • Biometric Privacy issues
  • End Point security

All this, while we continue our hectic testing and research schedules!
